The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is a public university located near Barcelona (Spain).It was created in 1968 by legislative decree with four main principles: freedom in the hiring of the teaching staff, freedom in the admission of students, freedom in the redaction of the study plans and freedom in the use of the resources of the university.

The Autonomous University of Barcelona counts with more than 50,000 students and more than 3,000 academic and research staff. It offers 77 qualifications in the form of degrees, diplomas, and engineering degrees and 90 doctoral programmes and more than 100 other postgraduate programs. It has 3 campuses and 11 faculties.
